Girl Scouts Beyond Bars

Instituted in 1992 through a partnership with the National Institute of Justice, Girl Scouts Beyond Bars provides girls an opportunity to visit their incarcerated mothers weekly to monthly and take part in mother/daughter Girl Scout troop meetings.

Boys and Girls Aid –The Pettygrove Program

Pettygrove is a nine month program serving young women, 14 to 18 years of age who are in Oregon Youth Authority custody. Since 1975, the Pettygrove program has been working to help young women in our community. Today, the program operates in a NW Portland home and serves more than 25 girls each year.

SUN Community Schools

Located in neighborhood schools, SUN Community Schools coordinate and provide educational, recreational, social and health services. There are currently 58 SUN Community Schools in 6 school districts across Multnomah County.

SUN Community Schools serve all ages, preschool to seniors, with focus on the students in the immediate school community. They are open before and after school, evenings and weekends.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area

Since 1946, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland has been providing thousands of young people throughout the Portland metro area with affordable, high-quality after-school and summer programs designed to help them develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. Our Clubs offer kids what they want most: safe, clean, fun places to go when they’re not in school; caring adults who respect and guide them; and challenging programs that teach them life skills and keep them engaged in productive activities.

Outside In

Outside In is a social service agency dedicated to serving low-income adults and homeless youth. It began in 1968, and has continually revised services to meet changing client needs. Current programs include a community health clinic, a homeless youth program designed to help homeless youth obtain independent living, and risk education. There are an estimated 2,000 homeless youth in Portland, and many myths associated with their homelessness. Youth end up on the street for multiple reasons, but most run away from violent and abusive homes. Outside In takes the approach of meeting youth where they are to provide them with services proven to be successful. We have had outstanding success helping Portland’s homeless youth transition off the streets and into stable lives.  For the past 40 years, Outside In has remained committed to creating and providing essential services needed by the homeless, low-income, and uninsured members of our community.

Oregon Youth Authority

The Oregon Youth Authority is the state juvenile corrections agency.  OYA incarcerates youth who cannot safely live in the community, and provides supervision and treatment opportunities to youth offenders in all 36 Oregon counties.  OYA provides a continuum of services to protect the public and reduce juvenile crime through programs and partnerships with local communities and counties.  Services emphasize decisive intervention in delinquent behavior, certain sanctions for crimes committed by youth, restitution to victims, and effective and innovative rehabilitation programs for youth offenders.  The mission of the Oregon Youth Authority is to protect the public and reduce crime by holding youth offenders accountable and providing opportunities for reformation in safe environments.
